Album Info:On May 1, 1971, Amtrak took over virtually all of the long distance passenger trains in the United States. At first, it repainted classic railroad equipment but starting in the late-1970s bought new locomotives and equipment. Here are some photos of the "pointless arrow" (its nickname based on its first logo) from the 1970s onward.
